Description
Jan Fabel, director of the Hamburg Police, thought he had closed his accounts with death. But as he prepares to pursue a new career outside the police, a detective from Cologne asks for his help in tracking down a terrifying serial killer who has been hitting for the past three years at the start of the city’s famed Carnival.
Maria Klee, Fabel’s assistant, is on the verge of mental breakdown and has taken months of sick leave. Unbeknownst to anyone, Maria also goes to Cologne in pursuit of a completely different, even more dangerous criminal, with whom she has open accounts.
Taras Bushlienko, commander of Ukraine’s Special Forces, has set up an elite team to carry out a top-secret mission in Cologne. Their goal is to end the hegemony of an exiled Ukrainian gangster, notorious for his savagery. And they are commanded not to let anything or anyone get in their way.
All roads end in Cologne during the days of Carnival, where traditionally people turn upside down and chaos prevails. And each one hides his real face behind a mask.
Fabel will find himself at the center of a universe dominated by betrayal and revenge, violence and death. And once again he will face his greatest enemy. The true King of Carnival.
